/ world today news/The situation in Afghanistan and the danger of a new wave of migrants to Europe was the main topic of the conversation on “Dondukov” 2 between the Vice President Iliana Yotova and the Ambassador of Italy to our country Giuseppina Dzara. The general opinion was that as the external borders of the European Union Bulgaria and Italy must have a coordinated position regarding European migration policy.

Over the years, Iliana Yotova has worked actively on this topic and knows first-hand the problems that Italy faced during the refugee crisis in 2015. “Europe should have learned its lessons and have prepared a preventive policy in order not to allow the tragedies on the Union’s external borders from years ago,” said the vice-president and pointed out that there is no progress on the Migration and Asylum Pact proposed by the European Commission. Iliana Yotova and Giusepina Dzara were adamant that a unified policy on migration is needed and must the positions of the countries on the EU’s external borders should be heard. “Our countries must not pay this high price alone. The balance between solidarity and responsibility must be restored,” the Italian ambassador emphasized stepped up so that at the next Summit in Brussels, where this topic will inevitably be leading, our opinion will be better heard,” the vice-president pointed out.

Iliana Yotova and Giusepina Dzara also discussed the excellent relations between Bulgaria and Italy in all spheres of mutual interest.

The Vice President invited Ambassador Dzara to join the informal club of lady ambassadors in Bulgaria, formed on her initiative at the beginning of her mandate, which regularly organizes meetings on topical issues.
