Jan Quaeyhaegens (31) won his match convincingly during Cage Warriors 171. He was the better against the 22-year-old Greek Konstantinos Ntelis from the start and in the second round he forced the submission. Quaeyhaegens thus maintains his finish ratio of 100%: he finished all his won fights early. With this convincing win, he is back on course for a title fight at Cage Warriors.
The fight between Quaeyhaegens and Ntelis was originally scheduled to conclude the prelims, but was postponed at the last minute to the opener of the main card. Perhaps with good reason, because Quaeyhaegens has a 100% finish ratio and his opponent is known as an emerging talent.

The Antwerp native announced in advance that he would focus less on a game plan, but apparently he still went to Glasgow with a clear goal. Quaeyhaegens took the fight to the ground early on and looked for a submission. He made several attempts to pin down the Greek, but he was not easily taken and struggled out of the entrapment several times. The first round was clearly for our compatriot, but at the end we had to pay attention when Ntelis briefly gained the upper hand.

The same picture in the second round. Quaeyhaegens put pressure on the young Greek and he now had no recourse against the ‘Q-bomb’. The fight went to the ground again, and this time Quaeyhaegens was able to control with more dominance. Ntelis could not get out of the entrapment and had to take several striking punches. Our compatriot did not give up and continued looking for the submission, and with success. With just over a minute left in the second round, Quaeyhaegens was able to put his opponent in a strong headlock. Ntelis struggled for a while, but still had to tap out. For the ‘Q-bomb’ it is his 12th professional victory in 17 fights.
After his bitter defeat against Paul Hughes in October, our compatriot picked up the thread again with a great victory. Quaeyhaegens hopes to be back on course for a lightweight title fight in Cage Warriors, although he will need at least two more victories for that. And so the UFC dream remains alive.
