Will he become foreign minister in the “Glavchev” cabinet? The foreign policy adviser to the Prime Minister, Meglena Plugchieva, gave an answer to this question in an interview with BNT. Her name made headlines yesterday after Rumen Radev called Glavchev’s idea of combining the post of prime minister with that of diplomat No. 1 “avant-garde”.
I have been ambassador to Germany, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Montenegro, but as a political quota in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. I think it is not good for a diplomat from a political quota to be a caretaker minister of foreign affairs. I respect the principles, it is not right for a person like me to take the position of foreign minister in a caretaker government, Plugchieva stated categorically, answering the question whether Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev could propose her for the position tomorrow.
The situation regarding the position of the foreign minister is unpleasant and not good. I hope that a good solution will be found quickly, commented Meglena Plugchieva. And announced: “Tomorrow there will be a presidential decree for the foreign minister.”
She refused to name the new foreign minister, but did not deny that it could be Dimitar Glavchev.
According to her, our country is not doing well in Europe at the moment, and this must stop as soon as possible.
“I was offered ministerial positions, which I refused. Dimitar Glavchev is placed in an extremely difficult situation and he needs people who have management, political and diplomatic experience,” added Meglena Plugchieva. According to her, there are extremely good career diplomats.
Meglena Plugchieva was a deputy in three parliaments, deputy prime minister in the government of Sergey Stanishev.
