As assisted reproductive technology advances, sperm banks and egg freezing have become increasingly common. In such a situation, a complaint filed by a 33-year-old man who donated sperm while he was a student in the United States is attracting attention. He was told that almost 100 children were born from his own sperm.

“In March 2021, I met my first child born with my own sperm. The family lived about 45 minutes away from my home. It was a very powerful and beautiful moment to see my child.”

Dylan Stone-Miller (hereafter, titles omitted) looks back on those days as follows.

However, as the number of children born with his own sperm increased, his joy turned to anger and frustration towards the sperm bank. As of December 2023, he is known to have at least 97 children.

“It is said that only about 40% of people report the birth of a child to a sperm bank, so the actual number could be higher than 200.”

Dylan began to confess, confused.

Donate sperm for tuition fees

Dylan was born in September 1990 in Atlanta, Georgia. A Ph.D. Her father is a criminal psychologist, and her mother is a professor at the prestigious Emory University, specializing in American art history. He attended a small private school for the first 13 years of his life, then transferred to a public school closer to home during his senior year of high school. She majored in psychology at Georgia State University and went on to graduate school there to obtain a master’s degree in educational research.

I learned about the existence of sperm banks from my roommate when I was living in a dormitory at university. My roommate went to the sperm bank, Xytex, three times a week to donate sperm. Xytex is a leading sperm bank with locations in five cities in Georgia, including Atlanta and Augusta, and in Charlotte, North Carolina.

“One day, he said to me, ‘If you refer someone, you get a $300 bonus, so if you’re interested, I’d like to bring you in.”

Referral bonuses are Xytex’s strategy to increase the number of sperm donors. Dylan also started offering to pay for tuition without thinking twice. It was January 2011.
