The accident happened on Friday before 9:30 in the evening near Předslav in Klatovsk. MČR rally director Jiří Valenta confirmed to Novinkám that there was an accident on the track.

Later, the organizers on the Facebook profile of the rally they wrote, that it was an Austrian couple with the number 8, Michael and Elisabeth Putz, who drove a Porsche 911 SC. “The continuation of the competition program on Saturday will not be disturbed in any way, for the crews of the European Championship and the Czech Republic Championship of Historic Cars,” they informed.

On Saturday morning, police spokesman Ondřej Hodan added that the 52-year-old driver of a foreign nationality skidded while on a wet road during the accident. “The right rear part of the car crashed into a tree near the Třebíšovský pond,” he described.
Mária Svobodová from the regional ambulance specified that the 52-year-old patient had very serious injuries and was transported by helicopter to the emergency department of the Pilsen University Hospital.
“The 55-year-old woman suffered moderate injuries and was conscious. An ambulance took her to a medical facility,” she added.
The administrator of the Pilsen University Hospital, Andrea Mašínová, said on Saturday after 9:00 a.m. that the patient suffered multiple injuries and is in the anesthesiology, resuscitation and intensive care clinic. “He is after surgery and in serious condition,” she stated.
The organizers of the Šumava Rally announced in a press release that teams from seventeen European countries had arrived in Klatovsk. Two events take place on the weekend, namely the historic car competition and then also the classic Šumava rally.
