Italy-Tunisia agreement, strengthening the study of Italian

(ANSA) – ROME, APRIL 20 – During his institutional mission in Tunisia, the Minister of Education and Merit, Giuseppe Valditara, signed a memorandum of understanding with his counterpart from the Republic of Tunisia, Salwa Abassi, to strengthen cooperation between the Italian and Tunisian education systems. “In line with the objectives contained in the Mattei Plan”, the agreement provides for the “promotion of initiatives to improve the quality of Italian language teaching in the Tunisian school system and the implementation of a program of interventions in the technical education sector , also facilitating the mobility of teachers and students between the two countries. In particular, it is planned to create a professional qualification course aimed at Italian-speaking Tunisian teachers, so that they in turn become teacher trainers, and to strengthen technical education. “, explains a note from Viale Trastevere. “Within the framework of the common desire to strengthen the partnership between the two countries – said Valditara – the signing of the memorandum represents a further step towards greater cooperation in the sector of education policies. The ministry is committed to increasing the study of the language Italian, already spoken by many young people in Tunisian schools, and to consolidate strategies to improve technical education paths and to contribute to industrial innovation and economic development, through the training of highly specialized technicians and professionals to be employed on site, in companies Tunisian or Italian, or in Italy”, “that education is a fundamental lever for the progress of countries”. By joint decision of the two ministers, a joint committee will be established, composed of Italian and Tunisian experts, which, through a common strategic vision, will make it possible to implement a significant improvement in the quality of Italian language teaching in Tunisia and guarantee technical education and professional excellence. “At the end of the meeting, Minister Abassi announced her intention to introduce compulsory teaching of the Italian language in all technical schools in Tunisia and in other schools with a technical focus.
