Polish services detained a man who declared his readiness to cooperate with Russian military intelligence. Paweł K. was to help in a possible attempt on the life of the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky. The National Prosecutor’s Office informs about the case, adding that the suspect has already been charged.

Paweł K. is a Polish citizen. The man was to declare his readiness to act for the military intelligence of the Russian Federation and establish contacts with Russians directly involved in the war in Ukraine.
“Its tasks included collecting and providing the military intelligence of the Russian Federation with information on the security of the Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport. This was, among other things, to help the Russian special services plan a possible attack on the life of the head of a foreign state – the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky” – said the spokesperson of the Prosecutor General’s Office, Prosecutor Anna Adamiak.
The would-be spy was detained on Polish territory. The National Prosecutor’s Office, the Internal Security Agency, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine and the Security Service of Ukraine worked on the case jointly. The Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine informed our services about the possible activities of a potential Russian spy in Poland. The Ukrainians also provided key evidence in this case.
The detainee was charged with reporting readiness to act for foreign intelligence against the Republic of Poland, qualified under Art. 130 pairs 3 of the Penal Code – said spokeswoman Adamiak.
She added that this act is punishable by up to eight years in prison.
The investigation continues. They are conducted by the Internal Security Agency under the supervision of the National Prosecutor’s Office, on the side of which the case is handled by the Masovian Branch of the Department for Organized Crime and Corruption.
