Peruvian mining exports in February 2024 were US$ 3,223 million, which reflected an increase of 13.2% compared to the same month in 2023 (US$ 2,848 million), reported the National Society of Mining, Petroleum and Energy (SNMPE).
Likewise, the mining and energy union announced that mining exports in the first two months of the year (January – February) totaled US$ 6,319 million, representing a growth of 13.8%, compared to the same period of 2023 (US$ 5,555 million).
The SNMPE detailed that copper exports totaled 1,650 million dollars last February, a figure that represented an increase of 16.9% compared to the same month in 2023 (US$ 1,411 million).
The growth in copper exports recorded in February was because the volume increased by 29.4%, despite the fact that the price of this metal decreased by 9.6% compared to the same month last year.
The business union indicated that gold exports reached 998 million dollars in February 2024, which represented an increase of 33.9% compared to the same month in 2023 (US$ 746 million).
Exports of this precious metal benefited from the increase in volume by 22.5% and its price by 9.3% compared to the same month in 2023.
Finally, he reported that copper exports represented 51% of mining exports last February, while gold and iron, 31% and 5% respectively.
Mining exports – he stressed – accounted for 62% of Peru’s product shipments abroad.
