The president of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduroannounced this Tuesday, at the virtual meeting of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac), the closure of the Embassy and consulates of the Caribbean nation in Ecuadorin support of Mexicoafter the assault by the Ecuadorian Police on the diplomatic headquarters of this country.
Mexico accused Ecuador to listen to private communications from their Embassy in Quito, prior to the invasion, on April 5. That was one of the violations of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations (CVRD), which the North American nation attributed to Ecuador.
Likewise, they pointed out that the government of Daniel Noboa deploying an excessive number of police, special forces and military personnel around the embassy in previous days; and harass and disrupt members of its diplomatic mission.
The United States Department of State, through a statement, condemned this Saturday the violation of the Vienna Convention, which occurred after the break-in at the Mexican Embassy. He urged both allies of Washington to “resolve their differences in accordance with international standards.”

The member countries of the group MIKTAformed by Mexico, Indonesia, South Korea, Türkiye y Australia, expressed on Friday, April 12, their “deepest concern” and solidarity for the invasion of the Ecuadorian police into the Mexican Embassy. EFE
