Windows 11 Build 22635.3420 or later has several new features, including a QR Code generator for sharing links, improved Copilot right-click menu, reset device icons, etc.
Microsoft confirmed the changes in a post and clarified that all these features will not be available when installing the new Windows 11 updates. However, if you want to experience these features as soon as possible, make sure to enable the “Get the latest updates as soon as they are available” toggle in your Windows Update settings.
QR code generator in Edge
Microsoft is experimenting with a QR Code generator in Windows 11 Share menu to share links, files or media. After clicking the Windows sharing option in any Windows application, including Edge, a QR Code icon will appear.
To get started, click the QR Code button next to the URL or link to generate a QR Code.
You can scan the QR Code and browse the URL on your phone If you want to use Edge to share files, don’t forget to enable the sharing icon in the Edge toolbar.
Previously, you had to use several options to copy or share web links. Now with the QR Code generator function, you don’t have to do this anymore.
Gadget placement varies depending on task column configuration
The biggest problem with the Windows 11 taskbar is that it is not possible to change the location. Additionally, after adding the component icon on the left, the center action column looks different.
Previously, if you changed the alignment of the taskbar to the left, the device icon would appear next to the search bar.
In the next update, widget buttons will follow the alignment of the action column. If you use center alignment, the component icon will be moved to the right in front of the system tray icon.
We don’t like the waste space around the device icon. Even though the same icon is next to the system tray icon, there is a big gap between the two.
Copilot contextual menu
PhantomOfEarth discovered that Microsoft has been testing a new menu that appears when you mouse over the Copilot button on the taskbar.
Previously, there were only three options: summary, explanation, and transfer to Copilot. In Build 22635.3420 or later, a fourth option appears in the right-click menu to enable application options.
When you copy any text on your Windows 11 computer, the context menu also opens automatically.
However, internal development of Copilot is still required, because no matter which option you choose, you need to transfer text to Copilot.
This menu can be turned off by navigating to Personalization > Copilot in the Windows section and turning off the “Show Copilot tips when copying” option.
In addition to these key upcoming features, Microsoft has also revamped drag and drop support for File Explorer’s URL list. Previously, drag and drop functionality stopped working in Windows 11 23H2, but it is now fixed in this version.
Windows Backup will save your sound settings along with other system settings and preferences. You can now log in to your Microsoft account using the Windows Backup application and save your personal data to that account.
Since most of these features have entered the beta pipeline, they will likely make their way to the production pipeline in the coming months.
