Man shot during home invasion in Halle

A 37-year-old man was shot during a home invasion in Halle on Thursday night. The man is in mortal danger.

The facts took place at around 2.45 am in the Beertsestraat in Halle. “When the father of the family came home, he was threatened by two people with firearms,” said Ingrid Moriau of the Halle-Vilvoorde public prosecutor’s office. “The perpetrators entered the house and threatened the man and woman. There was a skirmish with the perpetrators in the hall of the house, during which the man was shot. The perpetrators then fled.” The perpetrators are still missing for the time being.

Local residents testify that they were startled at night by commotion and explosions. They saw an injured man lying in front of the house. An ambulance and a MUG team rushed to the scene and administered first aid, after which the man in his thirties was taken to hospital. According to the public prosecutor’s office, his life was still in danger on Monday afternoon.

According to local residents, a family with four to five young children lives in the house, the youngest of whom is said to be a few months old. They would have been unharmed.
