The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, today urged Israel and Iran to avoid new actions that endanger the stability of the Middle East, following reports of an alleged attack from Tel Aviv.
The European Union (EU) appeals to all parties in the Middle East to refrain from any new action, he declared in this capital, where he met with the host Prime Minister, Petteri Orpo.
Von del Leyen insisted that it is absolutely necessary for the region to remain stable.
Early this Friday, information circulated of at least three explosions in the Iranian province of Isfahan, strategic as it hosts nuclear program sites and an important air base.
According to American sources, cited in Western networks, it was an attack by Israel, which would have warned Washington, while media in Iran denied any external aggression.
The International Atomic Energy Organization (IAEA) confirmed that there is no damage to Iran’s nuclear sites and called on all parties to exercise restraint, reiterating that nuclear facilities should never be a target in military conflicts.
In addition to the EU and the IAEA, powers such as China, France, Italy and the United Kingdom called for de-escalation.
