GABLE. Brynäs could hardly dream of a better start to the final series.
Tyler Kelleher accounted for a hat trick in the 6–2 thrashing.
– Djurgården looks immediately shocked, says TV4’s expert Fredrik Söderström.
7.08 into the first final match between Brynäs and Djurgården, the home team had flexed their muscles.
Brynäs then led 3–0, had goalkeeper Viktor Andrén replaced in favor of young Hugo Hävelid and forced the visitors to a time out.
The lead goal came already after 43 seconds when Tyler Kelleher outwitted Andrén.
Top scorer Jack Kopacka added with a quick shot and Greg Scott added the third on the power play.
Hattrick by Kelleher
16 minutes into the first period, it was 14-0 in shots to Brynäs.
– Djurgården looks immediately shocked, says TV4’s expert Fredrik Söderström.
The Stockholmers got up at the end of the period and had, among other things, a dangerous power play. With eleven seconds left, defender Alexander Ytterell reduced the score to 3–1.
Kelleher and Brynäs would have more reasons to cheer in this match. In the end, it was 6–2 and 1–0 in games after the American answered for a hat-trick, the last in an open box.
– It was a good match, we played well for 60 minutes. We wanted to go hard from the start and play fast. I thought we did it, says Greg Scott.
The second final match will be played in two days, also in Gävle.
