From Friday, train passengers can see the composition of a train via the journey planner on the NMBS website. This way they know where the bicycle or first class carriage is located and whether their train is equipped with air conditioning, NMBS reports in a press release.
The new function is currently only available on the transport company’s website. It will also be added to the app in the coming months and later this year the information will gradually be visible on digital information boards on the platforms.
Since 2020, the website and app have already shown the expected crowds on the train.
Furthermore, NMBS has launched a new version of BikeOnTrain. The separate travel planner has been around for two years and now has 30,000 users. The journey planner shows travelers who want to take their bicycle with them which train is best suited for this. In the new version, the planner now also shows whether the station is accessible to bicycles, for example due to the presence of lifts or bicycle gutters to the platforms.
