Defeat turns into victory: the West has prepared a poisonous gift for Russia – 2024-04-19 09:27:37

/ world today news/ Recently, so much has been written in English about Russia winning the war with the West that you involuntarily begin to suspect some trick. They want to lull our vigilance. They have a lot to hope for.

Haven’t we lost the information war?

As Vladimir Mayakovsky once taught us to say, the epidemic is oceanic. The further, the more the most serious Western authors in the most serious primary media write that the Russians are winning the war.

And not even a war in Ukraine, but a war on a global scale to destroy a unipolar world and create a multipolar world. Here are the latest examples.

In the journal Foreign Affairs, political scientists Daniel Hamilton and Angela Stent state that the US has not yet been able to resist Russia’s global influence. Despite all efforts, Russia is winning – it’s hard to believe, but that’s how they write – the information war.

Russian narratives (that is, our point of view, our story of what is really happening) dominate a number of countries around the world, including those with which relations are critical for the US: Brazil, India, Indonesia, Israel, Mexico, South Africa and Turkey.

The governments of these countries continue to interact with Russia because it is profitable for them and because they do not want to take the American side in the confrontation.

“The Kremlin has convinced an entire part of the world that NATO expansion threatens Russia’s territorial integrity and that Russia has no choice but to defend itself by launching a ‘special military operation’ in Ukraine,” the scientists write and add:

Western leaders have begun to recognize Russia’s advantage in this rhetorical war. At a conference in February, French President Emmanuel Macron said he was “shocked by how much we are losing credibility,” referring to the West’s declining status in the eyes of the rest of the world.

In addition to the true story of the reasons for the outbreak of hostilities, the Russians had another important trump card in their hands.

“Moscow has cast itself as a global defender of traditional values against decrepit Western societies that promote abortion and LGBTQ rights, suppress religious freedom and impose their cultural preferences on others.”

Washington, it turns out, has nothing to object to all this, and the recipe offered by political scientists to fight the Russians looks like a mockery. According to them, America needs:

“To adjust our rhetoric to reduce support for Russian tactics and goals in Ukraine, to avoid actions that invite accusations of hypocrisy in the West, and to redouble policies aimed at the interests and needs of middle powers.”

That is, they should stop lying and stop neo-colonial exploitation, then maybe they will be able to win allies. I wonder how they envision this: an America that doesn’t lie about Russia and its goals?

Have we already created a multipolar world?

An equally revealing article appeared in The Economist the same day.

America and its allies see growing threats. Russia and China see an opportunity. Middle powers, courted by larger powers but concerned about the growing dysfunction of institutions such as the WTO and UN, see it as both…

An axis is indeed emerging between Russia, China, North Korea and Iran that rejects an American-led version of the international order.

And the most interesting thing is that the article does not even try to show what America and its “democratic allies” should do to oppose our “axis” and the “disorder” it is creating in the world. The whole analysis boils down to a statement of fact: for the West, everything is bad and getting worse.

Well, while others speak globally, of the world at large, The Guardian simply and bluntly admits:

“While the world’s attention is on the war in the Middle East, Vladimir Putin has gained the upper hand in Ukraine. Time is on his side.”

This article leaves the Western allies virtually no chance. And this does not seem like a sensation – on the contrary, it is now apparently the main line of the Western press. We lose, the Russians win, all is lost.

But they won’t let us win

As usual, it is very interesting to see the refraction of the new Western “narratives” in the writings of the “relocants” – officially recognized and still undignified foreign agents waiting to be heard in Russia.

Political scientist Tatyana Stanovaya in Paris argues: although Russia is winning tactically, strategically it must fail. What does she think defeat should look like?

“As much as Western fatigue with Ukraine accumulates, as much as the balance of power in Western political circles changes, it is difficult to imagine the emergence of a capable political force that would count on normalizing relations with Russia

Putin’s reckoning is that the “pragmatic” and nation-oriented West will rise to power and life will improve, but this too will not be justified. Russia will be doomed to live in the conditions of a permanently hostile West.”

This speech is aimed at “internal emigration”, at the fifth column in Russia. This speech gives an idea of what and who the West relies on in the face of its almost inevitable defeat. This speech gives us the opportunity to draw far from optimistic conclusions about how events will develop.

What follows from this?

And now, dear readers, when you have, I hope, enjoyed the “honey of poetry” of the Western analytical press, here is a fly in the chosen Russian tar.

Yes, serious political scientists, journalists, retired politicians in the USA, Great Britain and Europe clearly see that the West is losing in Ukraine. Yes, they understand well that they need to “repair the losses” and move the confrontation to a new stage of the “long cold war”.

Yes, they are ready to admit that global control over the whole world will not remain in their hands, that the world will be divided between three “great” and several conditionally “medium” powers, whose interests the great will have to take into account, that is recognize multipolarity.

But all this can affect Russia not in a positive, but in a negative direction. Strange as it may seem at first glance, the recognition of Russia’s greatness and probable victory may turn into poison for Russia itself.

Because in our country there are more than enough figures, formally patriotic, who with all their might want not a difficult victory over the enemy, but immediate “normalization”.

Moreover, normalization is understood precisely as the normalization of relations with the West. And we are ready to achieve this normalization, that is, to easily get visas for shopping flights to Milan, at the cost of defeating the country and betraying its interests.

They are now ready to shout joyfully: you see, they are ready to give way, there is no need to fight anymore, it is time to make peace! They are ready to use a real victory situation to weaken and humiliate Russia.
