April 25: the appeal for a ceasefire remains in Milan

(ANSA) – MILAN, APRIL 17 – “Let’s make this April 25th an unforgettable day. Together”: this is the appeal that comes from the unitary anti-fascist committee, which every year organizes the national ceremony to celebrate the Liberation in Milan, where they will intervene from the stage, among others, the secretary of the Uil Pierpaolo Bombardieri, the president of the Anpi Gianfranco Pagliarulo, the mayor of Milan Giuseppe Sala and Pif, in an event that for the first time will end with a concert, entrusted to the Anpi section of the Teatro alla Scala . Beyond the belief that “it is necessary to build this April 25th united as an extraordinary event, to prevent any attack on our democracy and our freedoms”, however, controversy has already arisen, starting from the protests of the Jewish community, over the choice of put ‘ceasefire everywhere’ among the key words of the demonstration. A choice also reiterated in the statement with which the committee announced the route and interventions of the procession in the belief that an “April 25th of liberation from war is urgent: ceasefire everywhere” “Against the attacks on the Constitution that the current far-right government is being implemented through the introduction of the premiership and differentiated autonomy, it will be necessary to mobilize by forcefully stating: ‘hands off the Constitution'” explains the committee which also places as a priority the full application of rights such as the dignity of work and the importance of health and public schools. And “with respect to the international context, with the ongoing wars and the consequent growth of militarization, it is urgent to implement political and diplomatic actions to stop the massacres of civilian populations and avoid the exponential growth of conflicts”. The procession, as per tradition, will start from Corso Venezia and arrive in Piazza Duomo where the mayor Giuseppe Sala, Pif, the president Aned Dario Venegoni, Andrea Ricciardi of Fiap, the secretary Uil Bombardieri, Debora Migliucci of the Historical Archive of Labor will speak from the stage and the president of the Anpi Pagliarulo.
