The guest conductor of the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra, Jorge Rivero Tirado, died Monday morning, at the age of 74, due to a heart attack during a rehearsal inside the Degollado Theater.
“We regret the death of maestro Jorge Rivero Tirado, outstanding oboist, conductor and member of the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra. Our solidarity for his family, friends and for the entire musical and cultural community,” was the message with which the Jalisco government offered its condolences to the artist’s relatives.
The rehearsal that Rivero was carrying out was for the Spring Serenades series, in which he would serve as guest director.
Rivero was born in Cuba in 1952 and trained at the National School of Art (ENA) in Havana; His studies continued in Paris. Among the awards he won, the Excellence of the Rueil Malmaison Conservatoire in Paris stands out.
