If necessary, expedite process to protect candidates: AMLO

Mexico City. Candidates for elected positions will have the protection they require. To achieve this, the government acts immediately and if it is necessary to eliminate procedures to make the process more expeditious, this will be done because “there can be no hesitation in this,” said President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

He assured that the security cabinet is acting “quite quickly, with enough elements and there is already a considerable number of candidates who have protection.” A complete report on the subject will be presented tomorrow by the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Rosa Icela Rodríguez.

He even pointed out that if it is necessary to finance such protection for candidates, “we will take charge. Since there is no longer corruption, we have strong public finances; the economy is very good. We should be happy that things are going well. and if resources are needed, we provide them,” he stated.

Then, the president returned to the topic of the debate between the candidates for the different positions in dispute and made a series of recommendations for them to address the voters: “try to be as authentic as possible, act as you are, say what you think, “Don’t make them read things that have nothing to do with you because they are going to make mistakes, even in the language.”

And he continued: “seek to be authentic, have general ideas, a language, speak sincerely, speak to people from the heart and you will do well” because publicists “have no idea, they do not know the people, they do not capture the feelings of the people,” he said.

López Obrador trusted that the electoral process will go well. Everything is going very well, “what worries us all, that there is no violence.”
