For the immediate formation and implementation of a nationwide comprehensive long-term strategy for the socio-demographic revival of Bulgaria
“IF WE LOSE BULGARIA, WE’VE LOST EVERYTHING!”

In the last more than 30 years, our country fell into a demographic crisis. It gradually accelerated and from the second half of the 90s of the 20th century transformed into a severe socio-demographic catastrophe that has been deepening to this day. In other words, for the last three decades, the demographic dynamics in our country has been in crisis, i.e. from impending danger, is transformed into a severe collapse of the population of Bulgaria, i.e. an accident occurred..
The socio-demographic catastrophe observed today in our Fatherland is characterized by a declining birth rate, a high level of early mortality, an aging population, accelerating immigration, deteriorating health status, a decline in the number of women of childbearing age, respectively, all of which results in extreme negative natural growth. Along with this, we face a lowering of the intellectual level, loss of professional competence, widespread simplification, dilution of pride in being Bulgarian and/or a Bulgarian citizen, etc., etc. And in the end, we witness a unique in world history without war and natural disasters in a short period of time, a sharp reduction in the number of the population of our Fatherland by more than ¼. The loss of so many people in such a short time fully falls under the definition of genocide in the December 9, 1948 UN Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide. According to this definition, what is happening in our country is characterized as “…actions carried out with the intention of destroying in whole or in part a national, ethnic, racial or religious group…”
Unfortunately, for years this socio-demographic situation has been neglected, neglected, underestimated, belittled and silenced by the institutions, politicians, mass media and so on and so forth… But if this genocidal trend continues the socio-demographic catastrophe will turn into a process of demographic collapse, whenever something is wanted to be done it will be late and impossible. And as terrible as it sounds, but if things continue as they are going so far, the point of bifurcation, i.e. at the moment of transition to the new qualitative state – it falls apart, it will not be so far in the future. And this means that Bulgaria and the Bulgarians will enter the Red Book of disappeared countries and peoples by the middle of this century.
That is why we call not to close our eyes to the terrible danger and, activating intellectual power, statesmanship and national consciousness, to immediately begin the formation, and after it is completed, the implementation of a nationwide comprehensive long-term strategy for the socio-demographic revival of Bulgaria. This strategy should take into account the causes and the causal chain for the socio-demographic tragedy of our Motherland, identify the factors and conditions, the necessary actions and means, systematize the time, stages and structures for the socio-demographic revival of the Bulgarian people. On behalf of the organizations indicated below, which issue this appeal, we declare that we are ready to the maximum extent to support the formation of the strategy, using our considerable expert potential.
The nationwide comprehensive long-term strategy for the socio-demographic revival of Bulgaria has no alternative if we want a future for Bulgaria, for our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to have them. Because “If we lose Bulgaria, we have lost everything”!!!
