Jakob Silfverberg left Gävleklubben as a hero after the SM gold in 2012.
After one season in Ottawa, he has played the last eleven seasons with the Anaheim Ducks.
– Bringing Jakob home of course feels incredibly good and exciting. Jakob doesn’t really need a further introduction, what he has achieved during his career speaks for itself, everyone knows what qualities he possesses both on and off the ice and with his heart for the club, he is invaluable, says sporting director Johan Alcén.
Series affiliation didn’t matter
On Wednesday, Brynäs begins the final of the hockey Allsvenskan against Djurgården. The final is played in the best of seven and determines whether there will be games in the Hockey Allsvenskan or the SHL next season.
For Silfverberg, series affiliation played no role in the decision.
– There will be different conditions, but if it were to be the Hockey Allsvenskan, everyone knows what the goal is, if it were to be the SHL, the goal is to start setting out the journey towards a new gold.
