How will Israel respond to Iran’s attack? A reaction seems inevitable

– Nothing could be further from the truth. We should rather expect the consolidation of Iranian society around the authorities despite the growing opposition to their repressive actions in internal politics, explains Richard Dalton, a British analyst and former ambassador to Tehran, to “Rzeczpospolita”. In his opinion, Israel is unable to deal devastating blows to Iran on its own. This would only be possible with the help of the US, which is impossible in the current situation. He is convinced that there is still a chance, albeit a small one, of avoiding further escalation leading to open war. It reminds that Iran is threatening to attack US bases in the region, which would force the US to become directly and militarily involved in the conflict. It is possible that the Israeli government may take advantage of this by taking retaliatory action.

Hezbollah – Iran’s dangerous weapon against Israel

In addition, Iran has the opportunity to launch powerful weapons it has in its stockpile, which it has not yet used in its entirety. We are talking about the Lebanese, Shiite Hezbollah, an organization that has over a hundred thousand rockets at its disposal, much more dangerous for Israel than those fired from Iranian territory, i.e. from a long distance. Hezbollah’s participation in Saturday’s attack on Israel was relatively small and the number of several dozen rockets did not exceed the number used in the previous bombardment. There are many opinions that Hezbollah’s limited involvement was an expression of Iran’s restraint despite the massive scale of the retaliatory action.

There are opinions in Israel itself to use the situation to negotiate with the US regarding Gaza. The aim would be to obtain Washington’s consent to launch an offensive in the south of the Strip and deal a final blow to Hamas.
