Man Resists Arrest in Sprang-Capelle, Walks Towards Police Officer with Stick – Pepper Spray and Service Weapon Used

A 65-year-old man strongly resisted arrest in Sprang-Capelle on Tuesday night. When they were arrested, the man grabbed a stick and walked menacingly towards the police officer. The officer then used pepper spray and when that didn’t help, he pulled out his service weapon.

Officers went to the man’s home on Tuesday to seize two aggressive dogs. The man turned out not to be at home. He was walking his dogs at the Drunense Duinen. When officers went that way, they saw the man getting into the car on Roestelbergseweg in Kaatsheuvel.

The man moved towards the police car. He almost crashed into a police car. He then proceeded to Haestrechtstraat in Kaatsheuvel.

Another officer in a patrol car saw the car and chased after it. The man moved through the built up area at high speed. He finally stopped in the Akkerwinde in Sprang-Capelle.

Baton removed after pepper spray
One of the officers wanted to arrest the man, but he resisted. The officer then used pepper spray. That didn’t help, because the man walked forward and grabbed a stick. He walked menacingly towards the officer with that stick. The officer then drew his service weapon, after which the suspect surrendered.

The man is accused of attempted murder, attempted assault, threats, possession of a weapon and traffic offences. He is being held for further investigation.
