/ world today news/ As always, the Bulgarian cational media missed an extremely curious and significant event, namely the conference “100 years of the CCP – the role and place of the People’s Republic of China in global development”. With the exception, of course, of Pogled Info and a few other free media. At the conference, which took place on September 29, statements were made not only by the Chinese ambassador to our country, H.E. Dong Xiaojun, but also the Vice Chairman of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Chairman of the Council of the One Belt One Road Think Tank Association Mr. Chen Zhou. Or in other words, the deputy foreign minister of the most powerful country in human history and present.
The event was opened with introductory words by Prof. Zahari Zahariev, who is the president of the National Association “One Belt, One Road”. At the very beginning, Prof. Zahariev emphasized that China is a locomotive of history and we, the Bulgarians, should look for the historical experience, baggage and strength of the People’s Republic of China in the context of the challenges of the 21st century.
In addition, Prof. Zahariev also spoke about the risk factors for peace and the unprecedented anti-China policy in Europe, the United States, Asia and the entire planet, which unfortunately leads not only to the deterioration of interstate relations and to certain antipathies and sympathies towards national leaders, but also to outright xenophobia against the Chinese people. According to Prof. Zahariev, this is a clear crossing of the boundaries of international relations as defined by the UN Charter.
Moreover, this problem is seen not only in US-China relations, but also in the relations between the People’s Republic of China and the European Union. What is even more frightening is that anti-Chinese policies and sentiments are beginning to gain ground in Bulgaria as well, according to Prof. Zahariev, despite the fact that the Bulgarian people have always treated the Chinese with the warmest feelings.
For his part, His Excellency Ambassador Dong Xiaojun thanked for the support that has been expressed for the People’s Republic of China. The top Chinese diplomat in Bulgaria said that today the world is undergoing changes that have not been seen for a century.
The Chinese ambassador to Bulgaria expressed his concern that today unilateralism and protectionism are on the rise. Against this background, he asked the question, what future will we leave for future generations?
He said that the People’s Republic of China and Bulgaria have different historical destinies, but they should work together, learn from each other and promote development.
According to His Excellency Dong Xiaojun, the People’s Republic of China under the leadership of Xi Jinping will continue on the path of peaceful development and building a new kind of international relations.
He also said that the “One Road, One Belt” initiative promotes prosperity and development not only for China, but also for all countries, including the Republic of Bulgaria.
In addition to the Chinese ambassador, a statement was read at the conference by the Minister of Justice of Bulgaria Yanaki Stoilov, who welcomed the conference. Minister Stoilov emphasized that Chinese history is inextricably linked with the Communist Party of China. He also stated that the People’s Republic of China has achieved impressive successes and has become a leading power in manufacturing, trade and technology.
After them, the first report of the conference was delivered by Prof. Nako Stefanov. It was titled “The CCP and the Achievements of Modern China.” Professor Stefanov said that today the Chinese Communist Party is the biggest political force in the world. In his report, he also took stock of the past 100 years of struggles, obstacles, development and successes of the largest left-wing party in the world.
Professor Stefanov recalled how the CCP was created as a result of a patriotic wave in China at the time, which was divided and still had fresh memories of the century of humiliation. The creation of the party was influenced, he said, by the ugly face of Japanese militarism that threatened China, as well as by the colonialism of the Western imperialist powers. As proof, Prof. Nako Stefanov gave an example of how Chinese Shandong after the First World War, instead of being returned to China, was taken from it.
It was in this context that China’s patriotic and progressive youth were influenced by the Great October Revolution and the ideas of communism.
Nako Stefanov recalled how in 1924 the Chinese Communists built together with the Guomindang a revolutionary front to impoverish China and expel the Japanese, but were later betrayed (by the Guomindang). A bloody civil war and white terror followed in China, and in 1927 the Red Army was formed in the country.
Prof. Stefanov also recalled the Great March of 1934-1935, during which the Chinese Communist Party moved from the south to the Shanxi and Gansu provinces, traveling thousands of kilometers, pursued by a numerous enemy.
After that, as Prof. Stefanov says, the new Japanese aggression began and China was at war from 1931 to 1945, during which tens of millions died. Along with the USSR, China is the country that lost the most people in World War II.
Prof. Stefanov told how 70 out of 100 of the land forces of the Japanese Empire were engaged precisely on the Chinese front, where a united people’s front was formed between the Communist Party and the Guomindang against Japanese imperialism.
After that, Prof. Stefanov recalled the civil war from 1945 to 1949, in which the communists took power in mainland China. The prominent expert on the Far East also told how the communists solved the agrarian question of backward and poor China, thereby attracting millions of peasants to their side, which was the main reason they won the civil war.
The next part of Prof. Stefanov’s report was devoted to the development of the People’s Republic of China, both in the years of Mao Zedong and after it. He recalled how the PRC was transformed from a backward, agrarian, archaic society into an industrial state in the early years of communist rule.
The professor also talked about the Great Leap Forward and the Cultural Revolution, which he said were a painful transformation from an agrarian to an industrial economy. He gave the example that in the West these transformations took a century, while China under Mao Zedong achieved them in decades. It is about the transformation of Chinese society from feudal-agrarian to industrial and modern. And China in general from a semi-colonial country, a victim of Western and Japanese aggression, to an independent and sovereign country.
The scientist told how the Communist Party led to the transition to a new level of social dynamics in China. During the first years of communist rule, a primary industrialization was achieved, according to Prof. Nako Stefanov.
He then continued his narrative with Deng Xiaoping’s reforms and the unique Chinese experience of using the capital of capitalist America to build a socialist society. It was during this period that there was an intensification of socio-economic processes in the People’s Republic of China.
However, Professor Stefanov emphasized that in the People’s Republic of China the model, in contrast to the unfortunate experience of Eastern Europe and the former USSR, including Bulgaria, it is not the power of the market over the state, but of the party over the market. In China, the state regulates the market, and it directs the activities of enterprises, most of which are national.
He emphasized how during the financial crisis of 2008-2009, China was not affected as much as Western capitalist countries. Unlike the neoliberal approach, the People’s Republic of China does not cut social spending in the country while at the same time boosting the technological base. This is precisely the period when the superiority of Chinese socialism over Western neoliberalism is proven.
In addition, Prof. Nako Stefanov did not fail to mention how today a fierce anti-Chinese policy is being conducted against the background of the complete superiority of Beijing in almost all spheres of the economy, trade, production, science and technology, as well as the transformation of the PRC into a developed and prosperous country.
Prof. Vasil Prodanov also gave a key report at the conference, who spoke about socialism with Chinese specifics. He also recalled Deng Xiaoping’s reforms and the unique Chinese experience. Prof. Prodanov explained that China has managed to attract foreign investment, but to maintain the leading role of the Communist Party.
However, according to him, Chinese socialism is a product of certain civilizational characteristics, which is why it cannot simply be copied by other countries and civilizations. It is for this reason, according to Prof. Prodanov, that China does not export its socialism with Chinese specifics.
He talked about the convergent development model of the People’s Republic of China, where the state and the market complement each other. Capitals and the market obey the construction of socialism, which is unique. Moreover, today Lenin is most respected not in Russia, but in China. Moreover, President Xi Jinping has a doctorate in Marxist philosophy.
In other words, in China there is political control of capital, not capitalist control of politics, as is the case elsewhere.
In addition, Prof. Vasil Prodanov said that the Chinese Communist Party is the greatest political force in the history of mankind. Today in China, 68% of private companies have CCP party organizations, and billionaires are under the control of the CCP instead of doing whatever they want.
For the period under review, Prof. Prodanov revealed that the GDP of the United States grew by seven times, while that of the People’s Republic of China grew by 31 times. China’s economy has grown 40 times for its part.
Household consumption in China has grown by 1,800 percent. The incomes of ordinary citizens of the People’s Republic of China have increased by 401%, while the incomes of poor Americans have only been falling progressively for a long time.
Moreover, Professor Prodanov revealed how in the United States inequality continues to grow, while in China the middle class has increased from 15 to 29%, and by 2030 it is expected to be 41%. In other words, it will be the largest middle class on the planet.
Life expectancy in China has risen to an average of 77.13 years, which is 2 years more than in capitalist and European Bulgaria.
The Digital Silk Road, as Prof. Prodanov said, is a fact today, and China is number 1 in online trade. In China, the so-called smart cities and smart/digital governance, from which ordinary citizens are not excluded. There are hundreds and thousands of government websites and platforms that allow citizens to communicate directly with those who govern them. Thus, the Communist Party constantly polls public opinion and creates a sense of citizen involvement in the development of the country.
Professor Prodanov told how China has turned from the cheap factory of the world into a world leader in high technology and science. Today it is the most digitized society in the world. China has the most robots in the world. The bots have grown from 50,000 to 800,000. In addition, China has over 100,000 enterprises making chips, which are the backbone of the digital economy.
Of the 69 leading companies that were key to the Fourth Industrial Revolution, 29 are located in Communist China today. 88 million scientific dissertations are protected in the country. China gives more than 500 billion dollars a year for science and research, while the European Union 300 billion. Beijing invests twice as much in science than its main competitors from Washington, Prof. Prodanov said.
Many public figures and scientists also spoke at the conference, and Pogled Info had the honor to cover this interesting and important event, which is developing against the background of anti-Chinese hysteria and policies in the European Union and Bulgaria.
