The Incredible Impact of Ulla Sandrock, Jürgen Klopp’s Wife, on the World of Football

Ulla Sandrock is the name of Klopp’s wife, and she moves the world of football more than you think. A few years ago, it was rumored that she was the one who talked her husband out of an offer from Manchester United, which came to him in 2013.

On the other hand, she thought Liverpool was the correct address.

Klopp himself speaks of her with kindness and respect. “I have never learned more in my life than from Ulla,” said the successful trainer in a podcast with Matz Hielscher. “He has a different outlook on life. The thing I love most about our relationship is that I always have someone by my side to give me another point of view.’

Even behind the surprise announcement in January of his departure from Liverpool, look for a woman. The couple want to travel together and are building a house in Wiesbaden. Fifty-six-year-old Klopp became a grandfather last year – or rather, a step-grandfather, as his wife Dennis has children from a previous relationship.

Ulla also plans to keep her energetic husband from getting tired while he rests. He is supposed to improve in dancing or cooking. “I’m pretty useless in my private life,” Klopp admits self-critically. “At least I learned how to make eggs during covid, which I forgot again. Maybe I should learn to cook so I can make breakfast someday.’

While Liverpool fans and perhaps the entire Premier League are looking forward to more difficult times without the charismatic Klopp, his Ulla is looking forward to longer times with his partner.

They have been a couple for almost twenty years. Ulla is a teacher who met her future husband in a pub in Mohács, where she was still working as a waitress. They lived together for three days and got married in 2005.

“The purpose of my life is to make my family’s life as comfortable as possible,” Bild newspaper recalled one of Klopp’s old sayings. “I like to improve other people’s situations. Of course I can’t do everything please no one, but I can do it for my family.”
