Tennesseans Should Recognize the Impact of International Automobile Manufacturers
Thousands of jobs and strong economy
International automobile manufacturers play a pivotal role in driving Tennessee’s economy, offering numerous well-paying jobs that sustains families and provides various benefits. It is crucial for the people of Tennessee to acknowledge the significant contribution made by these companies in our state.
Concerns arise with UAW endorsement
The United Auto Workers (UAW) recently endorsed Joe Biden for the 2024 presidential election, which raises concerns about the union’s strategy and the potential consequences for autoworkers in Tennessee. UAW President Shawn Fain has been pushing to organize international automaking facilities in Tennessee, a move driven by union executives rather than the desires of Tennessee workers.
Workers’ rights at risk
The UAW’s aggressive campaign to pressure workers into signing union authorization cards undermines the democratic process and workers’ rights. Unions often prefer this approach in order to avoid secret ballot elections supervised by the National Labor Relations Board. Political appointees in the current administration seem keen on aligning their practices with the UAW’s preferred means of ‘election.’
Privacy concerns and coercion
Furthermore, the UAW’s preferred neutrality agreements force workers to give up their right to privacy and expose their personal information, such as their names and home addresses. Organizers take advantage of these agreements to relentlessly pursue workers and pressure them into signing union representation cards.
Don’t let Detroit interfere with Tennessee’s success
Tennesseans must recognize the significant role played by international automobile manufacturers in boosting our state’s economy. Their contributions create valuable job opportunities and generate substantial state and local tax revenues that fund essential services and enhance our communities. We must resist any outside interference from Detroit and allies in the Biden-Harris administration in order to safeguard Tennessee’s prosperity.
