In an articulated manner, elements of the Armed Forces, the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (MARN), the National Civil Police (PNC), Firefighters of El Salvador and Civil Protection, worked until late into the night this Saturday to put out a dry brush fire in the place known as Ayagualo, in the department of La Libertad.
Due to the rugged terrain, tools and backpack bombs had to be used to control the situation that began on Saturday afternoon and lasted until late into the night, due to gusts of wind fanning the flames.
It was explained that a firebreak was also made at different strategic points to cut off the advance of the flames and thereby prevent the fire from reaching other areas.
The Firefighters confirmed that on Friday they attended to 51 fires, of which 37 were in brush, 3 in forests, 8 structural, 2 in a garbage dump and 1 fire in a vehicle.
