Oscar Engsund is ready for HV71 on a four-year contract.
Sportbladet’s disclosure from Sunday is thus confirmed.
– I have had a good talk with coach Anton Blomqvist recently and liked what I heard about his view of HV71 going forward, says the 30-year-old defender.
HV71 has presented its second top back within a week ahead of next season.
During Friday, it became clear that offensive Olle Alsing is leaving Leksand for HV71 on a two-year contract.
It is now followed up with defensive back Oscar Engsund being picked up from qualifying opponent Oskarshamn.
A player that Växjö, Linköping, Rögle and Luleå have also been looking for after Oskarshamn left the SHL.
– One of the league’s best defensive backs and a natural type of leader who will be important for us, says sporting director Kent “Nubben” Norberg.
Returning to Jönköping
Oscar Engsund played in the J20 and the elite series for HV71 for two seasons 2011–2013, that’s where he debuted in the top league and helped win the J20 gold in 2013.
Before he moved home to Oskarshamn and became captain before last season, he played seven seasons for Luleå in the SHL.
The move to HV71 is notable as it was the team that knocked out Oskarshamn in the qualifiers to remain in the SHL with 4–3 in matches.
Three clear new acquisitions
In HV71, Anton Blomqvist and Fredrik Stillman from AIK are ready as new head coach and assistant coach respectively, they replace Johan Lindbom and Per Gustafsson while Johan Davidsson remains as assistant coach.
The AIK also take with them the 22-year-old energetic forward William Ignberg Nilsson on a two-year contract.
Klara at Lämna HV71 is goalkeeper Joni Ortio, backs Kalle Maalahti and Colby Sissons as well as forwards Nick Shore (till Linköping) and Joonas Nättinen.
On the other hand, there has been no information about the backs Anton Strålman, Bobby Nardella and Oliwer Kaski and the forward Simon Önerud, who all have expiring contracts.
