Makokou, April 16, 2024, (AGP) – A mission from the Grand Chancellor of National Orders held, this past Tuesday in Makokou, an awareness meeting on the conditions to receive an honorary distinction related to the celebration of Gabon’s Independence.
This delegation led by an adviser to the Transitional President, Brice Moulengui, educated the management, the defense and security forces, the leaders, as well as the heads of regional services on the missions of the Chancellor in their national orders.
In fact, it is an administration responsible for ensuring the management of decorations awarded to worthy citizens, who have distinguished themselves or conducted themselves in a remarkable way in the service of the country, either in a civilian capacity, or under military or in the practice of private operations.
There are three elements in the national orders, namely: the Order of the Equator Star, the Military Order of the Black Panther and the Gabonese Order of Merit.
The Order of the Equatorial Star is the highest national distinction. It awards merit given to the Nation, in the work of national construction or protection of interests at all levels of the Gabonese State.
Regarding the military order of the Black Panther, it should be noted that it also rewards the merits of military and civilian personnel of the defense forces.
Finally, the Gabonese Order of Merit rewards civil and military services, as well as professional practice, dedicated to the Gabonese State.
For Brice Moulengui, the discussions with his interlocutors were fruitful and gave the opportunity to shed light on some gray areas around the decoration.
For the year 2024, the province of Ogooué-Ivindo is entitled to one medal in the Order of the Equatorial Star and 24 in the Gabonese Order of Merit.
The chief executive officer of the Ivindo region, Adelaide Chantal Ngovet, Nkoghé’s wife, who works as the governor of the region, who could not be present, chaired this meeting which the participants considered appropriate.
