OTHER FACES: Ieva Jakubauskaitė and the presentation of her debut book “Skin, fragrant halva”

Celebrating the National Library Week of Lithuania, the Alytus Jurgis Kunčinas Public Library presents the presentation of Ieva Jakubauskaitė’s debut novel. April 25 5:30 p.m. we invite everyone who is looking for new literary winds on the topics of love, irony and self-reflection to a meeting with the writer Ieva and the reception of her book “Oda, kvepianti halva” (library hall, Seiriju st. 2).

Ieva Jakubauskaitė’s creative themes touch on the search for identity and meaning. The life of the text comes from the domestic realism that dominates the author’s work, in which the rudiments of female existentialism are strongly felt. The features of a detective can also be found in the novel.

“An unusual love story involves wordy, figurative language, irony, self-irony and an intriguing plot. Until the very end of the novel, the main character’s inner scrolling, the character twists of the characters captivate the attention. The book raises many relevant questions that people may face in the traps of love’s dead end. Makes you think about the meaning and meaninglessness of your life and makes you look for the true path of life.”

About the author: Ieva Jakubauskaitė (born in 1986) has already managed to present her first author’s book “Oda, kvepianti halva” (published by the association “Slinktys” in 2023) at this year’s book fair. Even before that, the creator’s short prose debuted in the collection “Einanjum pro prēšų” (2023), and her essay articles were published in the country’s daily newspapers and magazines (“Bernardinai”, “Ashtuntoji diena”, “Pašvaistė”, “Ji”). Ieva Jakubauskaitė is an English teacher in her own “English Language Cabinet”, where she actively prepares various types of English language courses for adults. She previously worked as a translator and has translated several self-improvement books (“Good Habits, Bad Habits”, “Difficult Things in Difficult Times”). Also writes the blog Petite Monday.

We invite you to spend a pleasant evening with new literary faces!
