Pakistan has become a peaceful country for sports, Shahid Afsar

KARACHI: ICC’s designated security official has said that Pakistan has become a peaceful country and is very suitable for all international sports events including cricket, for which the government and security agencies have played a valuable role.

A complete holding of PSL 5 in Pakistan will help in the country’s efforts to pave the way for international cricket, a foreign security agency tasked with checking and approving security arrangements for sporting events around the world. British-born Pakistani Shahid Afsar expressed these views during an informal discussion at Pakistan Navy Roshan Khan, Jahangir Khan International Squash Complex.

Shahid Afsar, nominated by PSA to review the arrangements for the 14th Chief of the Naval Staff International Squash Championship, said that the gradual improvement in the law and order situation in Pakistan will gradually increase the international sports in the country. He said that PSL 5 will be a milestone for Pakistan cricket.

Shahid Afsar, who served during PSL 3 and 4, said that we are fully satisfied with the comprehensive security arrangements for the 5th season of the league starting from February 20. On departure, we have given clearance to the ICC for both the centres.

Shahid Afsar said that he along with his fellow officials will keep a close eye on the security arrangements for foreign players and officials during PSL 5 as per their responsibility.
