Investigative Journalist Hristo Grozev Fears Returning to Bulgaria: Espionage Scandal and Russian Spies in European Parliament Exposed

Investigative journalist Hristo Grozev is afraid to return to Bulgaria, even just for a work trip. He currently lives in Vienna, where he is having a blast espionage scandal for Russia.

Grozev gave an interview to BNT, in which he spoke about this scandal, and about Russian spies in the European Parliament, and about other topics. When asked if he was afraid to return to his homeland, he replied:

“I’m very sad to say yes! That’s the advice from law enforcement, both in America and Europe – that the threat is of the highest category. And we see that part of the group that was working to follow me, including at the time I arrived in Bulgaria – all times were Bulgarian citizens, people who put themselves at the service of the Russian special services.

According to Grozev, there are many “useful idiots” for Russia in Bulgaria, using Lenin’s words about Bulgarians who voluntarily serve Russian interests. He says that it is easy in our country to find people who cooperate with the Kremlin, even without payment. According to him, our country is very suitable for the interests of Russia, because it is possible to find representatives of paid and ideological power.

“A former leading prosecutor participates in Facebook groups in which gratitude is shared for President Putin, the same prosecutor celebrates Stalin’s birthday. You can imagine how convenient and with what it uses [тези неща] Russia, because it doesn’t have to pay,” said Grozev.

According to Hristo Grozev, the scandal in the European Parliament with representatives who serve Russian interests is even useful. Because finally in Brussels the process of cleaning from these elements begins. Grozev drew attention to the fact that the research group in which he participated a few years ago named the Latvian Tatyana Zhdanok as serving the interests of Russia in the European Parliament. It was recently reported that Zhdanok worked for at least 20 years as a Russian agent.

Regarding the treason scandal in Vienna, he explained that treason cannot be punished in the country, as long as it is not going to harm Austria. But recently things have changed:

“It became clear that this freedom of spying greatly affected Austrian interests as well. It turned out that a cell of ex-officers who, when they did it, were active officers of the service their internal security and who had been working for years for Russian intelligence, passing data, they asked for information about opponents who were important to the special services of Russia, journalists like me . of the most classified computers using a special encryption system “Sina” again of the Russian services”.

Recently, Grozev said his home in Austria was broken into and his laptop was stolen. But not the one who wants the Russian information, but another one. Journalist Grozev revealed to BNT that he received chats from which he found out that his laptop was handed over from Vienna to Sofia, from Sofia to Istanbul and from Istanbul to Moscow – to the FSB.
