View the summary of NEC – PEC Zwolle
A week before the cup final against Feyenoord in De Kuip, NEC drew 2-2 at home against PEC Zwolle in the Premier League. For the home team it was mainly a matter of keeping things together and PEC went above and beyond. That made for an entertaining spectacle.
De Goffert was already in a cup atmosphere and even PEC’s early opening goal could do little to change that. Thomas Lam shot in hard and beautifully in the 10th minute. NEC then missed several opportunities, partly thanks to Jasper Schendelaar’s excellent goalkeeping.

After the break, NEC quickly turned the deficit into a lead. Rober González, replacing Dirk Proper, crossed and Koki Ogawa headed in the equalizer at the near post.
After a stupid foul by Anselmo Mac Nulty on Sontje Hansen, NEC were awarded a penalty. Ogawa scored the penalty. PEC defender Mac Nulty was not having his day. Before halftime he committed a serious foul on Hansen, which was punished with a yellow card.
Blessure Hansen
Hansen left the field in the second half with cramps, hopefully not a problem for the attacker next week. Proper started at NEC in the basics. The midfielder recovered in time from a hamstring injury and only participated for half an hour as agreed.
Before the 2-1, Odysseus Velanas had missed a great opportunity, but he made up for that miss in the 68th minute. After a subtle tap from Younes Namli, Velanas shot a free kick along the wall into the goal.
NEC pressed on in the final phase, but the score remained 2-2. For the first time since December 3, 2023, NEC suffered a loss of points in its own stadium, ending a series of six victories. The club record remains at seven Premier League home victories in a row from 1971.
