Solo: PSS Sleman won a landslide victory over Arema FC with a score of 4-1 in the 31st week of Indonesia League 1 2023/2024 at Manahan Stadium, Solo, Monday 15 April. However, PSS coach Risto Vidakovic said that the victory was not achieved easily.
Three of PSS Sleman’s four goals at that time were scored through the heads of Ajak Riak (16″), Kevin Gomes (41″), and Saddam Emiruddin Gaffar (90 + 3″). Meanwhile, the remaining goal came from an own goal by Arema player Julian Guevara (85′). One of Singo Edan’s goals was scored by Charles Almeida (30′).
“It was a difficult game for our players. It was difficult to control the pattern of the game, but the response of the players was in a good position,” said Risto after the game.

Risto believed the win was crucial as it kept PSS away from the relegation zone. However, PSS still has three more matches, which are against Dewa United (April 20), Persik Kediri (April 24), and Persib Bandung (April 30).
“In the current situation, it is important that players continue the rest of the competition with hope. For now, we will relax and enjoy the victory ,” Risto said.
The opponents in the remaining three matches are considered difficult as PSS always have difficulty against them. In fact, nicknamed Super Elja – PSS never won against Dewa United and Persib Bandung. However, Risto is optimistic that his team can achieve the best results if they perform as they did against Arema.
“The remaining games are crucial and PSS Sleman will be able to do better. PSS Sleman must be calm like today and be confident for the next games,” said Risto.
At the same time, PSS defender Kevin Gomes admitted that he was very happy with the victory against Arema. Because he was able to score his first goal this season and kept PSS away from the relegation zone.
“I am very happy to be able to score a goal and PSS must continue to get winning results in future matches,” concluded Gomes.
