MIDDELBURG – The fire department was sent to various places in the province on Monday afternoon and evening after reports of storm damage. Due to the stormy weather, the KNMI had announced a code yellow. All warnings have now been withdrawn.
At a building on Noordstraat in Terneuzen, part of the chimney blew loose around 1:35 p.m. The Terneuzen fire brigade made the situation safe again with the help of an aerial work platform. At about the same time, reports came from Kleiweg in Vlissingen, Van Kleffenslaan in Middelburg and Weeldeweg in Burgh-Haamstede, around 1:45 p.m.
A tree had blown down in Borgh-Haamstede and the fire brigade could easily put it in a safe place. The wind blew in Middelburg roof covering loose At about 2.30pm a report of storm damage was received at Gareelmakersdreef. Some roof tiles had come loose here. The roof of a shed had also come loose.
Later in the evening, reports were received from Hoogstraat in Sluis, Wijtvlietstraat in Wissenkerke and Lekstraat in Oost-Souburg. fell in this place a tree on a moving car, leading to a lot of damage. The fire brigade made the situation safe here with the help of a ladder truck. Finally, around 9:30pm, a report of storm damage was received from the Valdijk near Nisse. The ‘s-Gravenpolder fire brigade took this report into account.
