Rita Niemi-Manninen continues her zero tolerance – a direct opinion from Aki’s lover – 2024-04-15 21:48:27

Wellness coach Rita-Niemi Manninen has been without alcohol for more than two months. He plans to continue on the same line.

12 weeks without alcohol. Wellness coach Rita Niemi-Mannisen44, has been feeling good and calm since he decided to give up alcohol.

Rita tells Iltalehti that the same line will continue.

– Yes, I have been completely without it. I’m on the zero tolerance line, and it’s been really good.

The decision was not related to Rita’s relationship with alcohol – it has always been on a healthy basis.

– Before, my alcohol consumption meant that I could have a glass of white wine with meals or on weekends. But then you could easily have another glass of it, says the wellness coach.

– I realized that I have no need for such a thing. I don’t really get anything out of it – never have. Then I thought, why would I waste even one glass of wine? I don’t party anyway, those times have been seen a long time ago, he adds.

Rita reflects that her father’s alcohol consumption may also have influenced the decision. His father’s alcoholism overshadowed his childhood. Father died when Rita was only 12 years old.

– However, my father’s alcohol consumption has not made it difficult for me. But it did make me think about how stupid it can be. My father’s alcohol use went to the dark side, and it was an illness. My father’s generation avoided problems by holding on to the bottle, and then ranted, says Rita.

– It didn’t make me an absolutist, but I’ve always tried to approach alcohol normally, he emphasizes.

Exception

A healthy relationship with alcohol helped Rita not find it challenging to make a life change. However, the wellness coach admits that at the beginning of the change, he had to convince himself that he would really stop drinking.

– It took a few days when I had to force myself to not even have a glass now. Now, after weeks, I don’t have to think about it anymore, he says.

Rita made an exception to her zero tolerance at Easter, when she moistened her mouth a little with red wine. However, the plot was not taken further, and Rita didn’t even feel like taking more.

He says he changed alcohol to sugar-free Coca Cola and whiskey. Rita, who otherwise follows a healthy lifestyle, does not feel that she had to replace alcohol with anything stranger than that.

Spouse’s thoughts

Rita has also discussed her life change with her husband’s wellness coach Aki Manninen, 48, with. Aki has seen Rita’s decision as a good one and supports this one hundred percent.

– There is no need to explain decisions in this family. We value each other as we are, Aki states.

Aki himself is not a very big consumer of alcohol: a glass of wine might be enjoyed with food on the weekends. Rita believes that it is related to Aki’s culinary skills. Rita does not feel that she has to intervene in Aki’s alcohol use.

– I’ve never seen Aki in action. I’m not worried about him pulling the trigger, he emphasizes.

However, Rita has recommended a completely alcohol-free life to her husband. Aki hasn’t warmed up to it so far. However, the man does not feel that the matter has been forced on him too much.

– I don’t need to be told when I’m drinking wine if I have to do that. I don’t have to change my life with him. Each of us can make our own decisions, the man states.

– Alcohol has never been a strong part of our family’s life anyway, he emphasizes.

“General Default”

Not everyone has reacted to Rita’s life change with the same enthusiasm. Rita says that she has encountered bewilderment at her no-nonsense lifestyle.

– Especially with parties, there is a general assumption that it’s time to take it now, and properly, when you’re properly dressed. It’s surprising when someone says they don’t think so, says the wellness coach.

– Young women will surely also learn that “are you pregnant when you can’t take?” I have also heard it myself over the years if I have refused alcohol. I think that’s an absolutely outrageous comment. Of course, I understand that the person doesn’t really mean anything bad by it, he continues.

A wellness coach under no circumstances requires others to spit in the glass in his presence. In the same way, his friends don’t hand him alcohol.

– I left my party friends years ago. I don’t need groups of ten people who only see each other to party. That’s not part of my life anymore, Rita states.

The well-being coach does not feel that he has a vacuum with his decision. Rita doesn’t mind at all that she gets to drive home from the party and doesn’t have a hangover anymore.

– Alcohol doesn’t make anyone wiser. As a rule, it makes you quite tired. And you can’t bear to listen to it when someone is babbling drunk. Especially when you look at it clearly from the side, Rita reflects.
