Rachid Talbi Alami, of the National Rally of Independents (RNI), was re-elected president of the House of Representatives for the remaining period of the current legislature during the plenary session marking the opening of the second session of the 2023 legislative year -2024. Representing the parliamentary majority, Talbi Alami obtained 264 votes out of 324 votes cast, against 23 for Abdellah Bouanou of the Justice and Development Party. 37 votes were declared invalid.
This election falls within the framework of the rules of the internal regulations of the Chamber, in accordance with article 62 of the Constitution, providing for the election of the president at the start of the legislature and in its third year.
In his speech, Talbi Alami thanked the members of the Chamber for his re-election, stressing the importance of continuing to work together for the progress of Morocco under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI. He also highlighted the issues of the current session and future legislative priorities, notably the reform of the Family Code, while recalling the importance of unity and national mobilization in the face of geopolitical and economic challenges. current.
