Outstanding player Emiliano Martinez, score: 8
If it wasn’t for him – the game would have already ended in the first half, saving Aston Villa time and time again the disappointing player Declan Rice, score: 4
Didn’t affect the game as expected
The championship race heats up, the chair games continue. After Liverpool’s loss and Manchester City’s victory, it was Arsenal’s turn to play tonight (Sunday) as part of the 33rd round in the Premier League, but the Gunners succumbed 2:0 to Aston Villa at the Emirates Stadium and lost the top spot to Pep’s group.
The drama in the English league continues, with the biggest beneficiaries of this round being the Citizens, just before the return matches of the Champions League, when only five rounds remain until the end of the season, in which every week the top can change between the three teams.
The top game promised us a lot between the two rivals, and it exists in a big way, at least according to the first half and the drama at the end. The opening was for the Gunners alone, who dominated the game and were much more dangerous, with only Emiliano Martinez in goal saving Aston Villa from conceding a goal.

Argentina’s goalkeeper and world champion repeatedly repelled attempts by the Gunners, when in the 40th minute a huge save came when Andrew Trussard was close to scoring from only three meters, but Martinez was there and brought the teams to the break with the score 0:0.
In the second half the pace calmed down a bit, both Unai Emery and Mikel Arteta made substitutions, with only the former influencing the game and rewarding him. The Gunners took their foot off the gas and in the 84th minute they paid dearly for it. Leon Bailey (who came in as a substitute), received a cross from Luca Dean and established a lead, when in just three minutes Ollie Watkins arrived who doubled the score and celebrated hugely.
As mentioned, the Gunners lost first place to City, who leads the table, just before they meet Bayern Munich this Tuesday as part of the second leg in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. The championship race is heating up. On the other hand, Aston Villa recorded a huge victory in the fight for fourth place and they have 63 points.
