Viral Video of Fortuner with TNI Plates on Jakarta Toll Road Sparks Investigation

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – A man uses a Fortuner car with Indonesian National Army service plates (TNI) passing through the shoulder of the Jakarta-Toll RoadCikampek and an argument with another driver went viral on social media. He accused another driver of hitting his car and hitting the car back.

Announced through the social media account undercover.id, which was uploaded on Thursday, 11 April 2024, a man was seen leaving and approaching another driver who was hit by his official car. The man admitted that he had an older brother with the rank of TNI general.

“My brother-in-law, Tony Abraham, is looking for it,” said the Fortuner driver when asked about the ownership of the official car. The video uploaded on social media then went viral.

Investigated by the TNI Puspom

The head of the TNI Intelligence Center (Kapuspen) Major General TNI Nugraha Gumilar said that the Military Police Center or Puspom TNI was investigating the case of the Fortuner driver with TNI service plates immediately.

Nugraha said, based on the results of the initial investigation of the viral video, the TNI Puspom had checked the database of vehicle registration numbers at the Denma TNI Headquarters.

In addition, Nugraha said, Puspom TNI had also checked the database system of the Korlantas Regiden National Police Headquarters.

The record number is registered in the name of Asep Adang

From the results of the investigation, Nugraha followed, the Fortuner number plate used by the man named owner Asep Adang.

“Then it was discovered that (Asep Adang) was a retired Pati officer,” Nugraha said when contacted Tempo on Saturday, April 13, 2024.

Regarding Asep Adang

Asep Adang is a retired TNI AU officer with the ultimate rank of Air Marshal TNI. He retired in 2020 with his last post as Chief Secretary (Sestama) of the National Anti-Terrorist Organization (BNPT). Adang is a 1985 graduate of the Air Force Academy (AAU) of the Aviation Corps.
