Udine (Italy) – Shock in Italy! The Serie A game between Udinese Calcio and AS Roma had to be canceled with around a quarter of an hour to go because the former Bundesliga professional Evan N’Dicka (24) collapsed on the court. But the all-clear has now been given: the defender probably did not suffer a heart attack.

Bad scenes took place on the pitch: in the 71st minute, numerous supervisors suddenly rushed onto the pitch and surrounded Roma defender Evan N’Dicka.
The 24-year-old, who will be with until the summer Eintracht Frankfurt played and won the Europa League with the team in 2022, collapsed on the pitch and kept clutching his chest with his face distorted in pain.
After a few minutes of treatment break, N’Dicka was taken away on a stretcher.
At least the Ivorian himself was able to at least give the all-clear: When he was brought off the field on a stretcher, he gave a slight thumbs up, signaling to the spectators that he was okay so far.
Even after N’Dicka disappeared into the catacombs and was immediately taken to a hospital for examinations, the game remained interrupted. Roma coach Daniele De Rossi (40) spoke to his players, who apparently no longer felt able to finish the game.
After a break of around ten minutes, referee Luca Pairetto (40) finally called off the match when the score was 1:1.
A few hours after the incident, a report from the Italian news agency ANSA caused great relief: The agency had learned from medical circles that N’Dicka had not suffered a heart attack.

During the course of the evening, AS Roma then shared a photo on X (formerly Twitter) that showed the left-footer in a victory pose in his hospital bed.
“Evan is doing better and is in good spirits. He will remain in hospital for observation,” wrote the Italian club.
N’Dicka’s former club Frankfurt also thought about the central defender throughout the evening. “Moments when football becomes so unimportant!” wrote the Bundesliga club on X.

“Our well wishes go out to none other than Evan Ndicka. Stay strong, Fighter! Our thoughts are with you.”
The 24-year-old is receiving active support from his team in his recovery: The entire team visited N’Dicka in the hospital before they traveled home to Rome.
