The flood situation in Northern Ostrobothnia has worsened.
The rescue service of North Ostrobothnia has evacuated people in Niemelänkylä of Ylivieska.
The reason for the evacuations is the worsening flood situation in Kalajoki. The water level was expected to rise during the night between Saturday and Sunday.
The rescue service reported the evacuations in the morning on message service X.
The evacuations have been carried out in cooperation with the Social and Crisis Center of Northern Ostrobothnia.
– The social and crisis center will organize temporary accommodation for evacuees if necessary, the rescue service reported.
The rescue service says that it is ready to evacuate more residents of the area if necessary. If you need help, you are advised to call the emergency number 112.
The rescue service has had many flood-related tasks in North Ostrobothnia.
Firefighter on duty Esa Kaikkonen told Iltalehte on Saturday that the spring floods have employed the rescue service more than in previous years.
According to Kaikkonen, there were more than 60 flood-related tasks in the period between Thursday and Saturday.
