Iran is attacking Israel with dozens of drones and even missiles. The world with bated breath

Iran has attacked Israel and fear is descending on the Middle Eastern region. After days of warnings from the United States which defined military action by Tehran as “imminent” in retaliation for the raid that killed a Pasdaran general in Damascus, on Saturday evening the ayatollahs launched dozens of drones against the state Jewish, which in the last few hours has armored itself by closing schools, beaches, public offices and airspace.

The drones departed from Iranian territory. Haaretz reported that missiles were also subsequently launched to strike in sync and thus confuse Israeli air defenses with a multiple attack, precisely the one predicted by American and Israeli intelligence.

The commander in chief met in the evening in the Situation Room of the White House with officials of the National Security Council after hastily returning from Delaware, where he was spending the weekend. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Charles Q. Brown also attended the meeting. Washington reiterated its “unwavering support” for Israel and moved military ships near its coasts to be ready for any eventuality. While Benyamin Netanyahu gathered the security cabinet at the Ministry of Defense in Tel Aviv. “We will respond to those who harm us,” warned the prime minister.

In Israel the army had already been on high alert for days. In a video released during his sabbatical rest, the IDF spokesperson warned that Tehran “will suffer the consequences of choosing to further aggravate the situation”. “The army – warned Daniel Hagari – is ready for all scenarios and will take the necessary steps, together with its allies, to protect the people of Israel”.

Earlier today, Iran claimed responsibility for the seizure of a partially Israeli-owned ship in the Strait of Hormuz after boarding it with a helicopter and special forces. This is the MSC Aries, which flies the Portuguese flag and is owned by Gortal Shipping Inc, affiliated to Zodiac Maritime, owned by the Israeli entrepreneur Eyal Ofer. The official Irna agency underlined that the ship “belongs to the Zionist capitalist Eyal Ofer” claiming that the cargo was heading “towards Iranian territorial waters”. The US called for the immediate release of the ship “stopped in international waters” and reiterated its “unwavering support” for its Israeli ally in the face of threats from the ayatollahs. The crew of 25, added US National Security Council spokesperson Adrienne Watson on X, “is made up of Indian, Filipino, Pakistani, Russian and Estonian citizens”.
