“For me, the way in which the epidemic is developing in Bulgaria is not reassuring. I don’t know what the optimistic forecasts are due to to some of the responsible persons, because we still have a high number of newly infected people, a very high number of dead people, both on a daily and a weekly basis. The plateau that is being talked about is also very conditional – especially against the background of the low number of vaccinated, I don’t see any reasons for optimism“, said Prof. Okoliiski.

In the words of the WHO expert throughout “we are in a potentially very high dangerwhich makes us very different from other European countries.

“Over 50 percent of vaccinated people should have been achieved a long time ago, and people are not even following the measures. Even Romania is better than us.

Even according to WHO data the vaccinated medics are only 26 percent in Bulgaria”, Prof. Okoliiski also said.

Dr. Ludmil Shopov

According to Dr. Ludmil Shopov statements that the wave is passing are quite populist:

“Rather, it will remain a plateau with quite a few cases per day, eh hospitals are stretched to capacity.

Every day 10-12 patients are discharged and the beds are filled immediately.

We have 100 beds for moderate cases and 20 intensive care beds. The latter do not remain empty. And the doctors are exhausted to the extreme. The situation is much more difficult now.

Cardiologists, nephrologists, radiation therapists, traumatologists and resuscitators work in our Covid departments. But they are not enough, and they should be treated by pulmonologists and infectious disease specialists.

Throughout the pandemic, I can summarize that as a security we were almost always on edge. And as amounts of oxygen, remdesivir, which is still not enough, not to mention that it turned out to be not so effective.

Every day I had the feeling that some hospital in the country was going to explode with oxygen! So much was built up because of the patients with Covid-19, such a large amount we have never used oxygen in our practice…

Because seriously ill patients need to stay on oxygen for daysand not as before the pandemic – two days at a time.

And yes, people have constant complaints, some of them cannot stand so long with the device, they complain, they criticize us – but there is no other way – otherwise we have to intubate them. And this is not the best option for the final outcome,” said Dr. Shopov.

“9 out of 10 people intubated die, Assoc. Okoliiski also confirmed. Therefore, it is imperative that psychologists work with medical professionals.

According to Prof. Okoliyski the health system needs reform and the WHO has given recommendations for this.

According to the two doctors heel or whatever wave is comingwe should not rely on the introduced green certificate, but to strengthen the trend of decisive action for vaccination.

“Because a patient in the age group of 20-29 years died with us with a fake certificate, without diseases. So it is inadmissible to allow the falsification of the certificates – this is bullshit,” said Dr. Shopov.

Vaccinated people can very rarely transmit the virus, they get sick mildly and do not die from the coronavirus”, Assoc. Prof. Okoliiski pointed out.

From the conversation you will learn more:

✅ Is the 4th wave going away or is a new increase in the number of infected cases awaiting us?

✅ Are the hospitals provided with everything they need to treat even in the fifth wave

✅ Are the new medications a ray of hope or is vaccination better?

✅ How to properly apply oxygen therapy and why there are dissatisfied patients

✅ How many thousands of doctors and what specialties treat patients with Covid-19

✅ Why blood thinners should not be taken as a prevention of Covid-19

✅ Why antibiotics should not always be used to treat the virus
