Israel has confirmed today’s strike on Gaza’s Al Shati refugee camp, which killed three of its sons Ismail Haniyaof the leader of the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas.
In a joint statement issued later by the Israeli Armed Forces (IDF) and Shin Bet (including Israel’s internal security service), it is stated that Amir Haniya was a high-ranking official of the military arm of Hamas while his brothers, Hazem and Mohammad were also fighters of the organization.
It is even emphasized that the three brothers “were on their way to some terrorist act in the central part of Gaza”, when the car they were riding in was hit.

According to the Times of Israel citing a military official, the Israeli army has not yet confirmed reports of children killed in the attack.

Earlier, the Hamas leader told Al Jazeera that his grandchildren were also killed in the Israeli strike on Al Shati camp. Palestinian media reported that two of Haniya’s grandsons were killed and that a third was wounded.
