D. Melissanidis on the 100th anniversary of AEK: “Love it and protect it in its 200th, 300th and 1,000th years” – 2024-04-13 18:29:45

AEK’s celebrations for the 100 years of life of the club founded on April 13, 1924 culminate today. On the occasion of the birthday of the “two-headed man” and against the backdrop of the events at the “OPAP Arena”, the owner of PAE, Dimitris Melissanidis sent his moving message that he played in the matrix of the stadium and in which he said:

“Dear Unionists, today we celebrate the 100th birthday of the most special team in Greece. For all of us, the most special in the whole world. We should feel blessed for this, proud and redeemed because we went through a lot, they were difficult years.

We hurt, but we never gave up. Through effort, struggles and a lot of love, we are once again giving AEK the immensity that its refugee greatness deserves.

We have our home again, we are fraternized and united again. We endured, we believed, we were justified.

We are all the same before her, we all have yellow and black blood in our veins. Be her servants and bodyguards together, worship her and protect her in her 200, 300, 1,000 years.

The hot air balloon

The events for the 100 years of AEK started early at noon today outside the “Agia Sophia” and will culminate in a short time with the flight of the huge yellow and black hot air balloon that was built especially for the club’s one century of life and which will travel throughout the country in the coming days. The flight of the hot air balloon will start today through the field of the stadium in awe of the world of the team that has conquered the “OPAP Arena”.

“To be united”

The football team of AEK was also present at the Opap Arena with Matias Almeida blowing out the candles on its 100th anniversary cake. The coach of the Union was deified and in his statements he said:

“I feel very happy to be a very small part of the history of this huge club. I am grateful to God and to life that I am here today. Thank you so much for being able to share this celebration with all of you. I hope we continue to celebrate. The important thing is that we continue to be united so that we can do our best for our team.

May we always be together. And the players and the rest of the staff will give the last drop of our sweat to win. Tomorrow we want your energy that you give to all the games. To celebrate 100 years. Happy birthday AEK”.

Petros Mandalos spoke on behalf of the football players, who said:

“I would also like to wish a happy birthday to her in our AEK. There are times I wonder why this pitch took so long. Now I understand the energy this stadium gives you. I have two championships and two Cups with the team, we could have a lot more if we played in this stadium from the beginning. As all my teammates feel, I feel very happy. I hope to end my career at AEK”.

Flight delay

Ultimately due to strong winds, the flight could not take place. AEK’s 100-year-old balloon rose symbolically to a small height and in the next few days it will begin its journey across Greece
