The Environmental Division of the National Civil Police received a cacomixtle puppy, which is considered an animal in danger of extinction.
According to reports, the species, which is unusual in the country, was rescued by a woman in Lourdes, Colón, department of La Libertad.
“It is an omnivorous mammal that moves between the United States and Mexico, it belongs to the same family as raccoons and is in danger of extinction,” the Police explained.
Police authorities reported that the animal will be placed under medical supervision and once they ensure that it is stable, it will be returned to its natural habitat.
