X’s owner, billionaire Elon Musk, on Saturday challenged court rulings blocking certain social network accounts in Brazil, saying the platform could have to close its office in the country.
“We are lifting all restrictions. “This judge has imposed heavy fines, threatened to arrest our employees and cut off access for X in Brazil,” Musk wrote in a post on the social network.
“As a result, we will probably lose all revenue in Brazil and will have to close our office there. But principles matter more than benefits,” he added.

X said he is prohibited from making public which accounts have been affected, stating he could face daily fines if he does not comply with the order.
“We do not know the reasons why these blocking orders have been issued. We do not know which messages have allegedly broken the law. “We are prohibited from saying which court or judge issued the order, or in what context,” he indicated.
“We do not believe that such orders are in accordance with the Marco Civil de Internet or the Federal Constitution of Brazil and we will legally challenge the orders to the extent possible,” he said in the statement.
Musk also previously wrote “why do you demand so much censorship in Brazil?”, commenting on a previous post published by Moraes on the social network.
