A man in Samarinda, East Kalimantan, experienced excruciating pain in his genitals after inserting a foreign object into his penis. A number of foreign media reported on this case.

It was stated that the 48-year-old man told doctors several foreign objects had been inserted into his penis. Starting from SIM card extractor tools, electrical cables, to rubber bands.

He admitted that he had never inserted any foreign objects before this incident. Feeling difficulty urinating, the man immediately sought medical help.

After blood and urine tests were carried out, the unnamed man experienced kidney failure and a urinary tract infection (UTI). Meanwhile, a pelvic x-ray showed a shadow resembling a wire lodged in his body.

Doctors said the presence of the metal object caused him to develop bladder stones, which can trigger painful symptoms. The process of removing foreign objects was carried out at AW Sjahranie Regional Hospital, Samarinda, East Kalimantan.

Seeing this, the doctor immediately performed surgery to remove the 5X3 cm stone, citing the SIM card device as the main trigger.

Further examination showed that inside his body there was a 10 cm electrical cable and an 8 cm needle tied with a rubber band. Both items were also removed.

The 48-year-old man is described as sexually active and has no history of psychiatric disorders.

“Furthermore, he denies any history of inserting foreign objects into himself,” wrote a doctor at the Dr Soetomo Academic General Hospital, Surabaya, East Java, in a medical journal Radiology Cases Reports.

Psychiatrists later diagnosed the man with adjustment disorder. It is an emotional reaction to a stressful event or life change. However, they did not explain what caused this reaction.

To reduce the symptoms of his mental condition, the doctor prescribed antipsychotics. It is commonly used for patients with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.
