Our country has already suffered the axe, and now Helmut Lotti also wants to conquer the Netherlands with his metal show. On January 15, the former tenor will perform in the Paradiso concert temple in Amsterdam.

To announce the news and boost ticket sales, Lotti appeared on the Dutch talk show Today Inside on Thursday evening, where he performed I was made for loving you by Kiss in a black leather suit. The Dutch, who mainly know Lotti from his Goes classic period, did not know what they saw.

But as we have known for some time, Lotti has been taking a different tack since last year with hard rock and metal classics such as Iron Maiden’s Run to the Hills, Paranoid by Black Sabbath and Paradise City by Guns ‘n’ Roses. Last September Lotti also released the album Hellmut Lotti goes metal.

The ball started rolling after Sofie Engelen at radio station Willy remembered the story of Lotti, who had said on TV ten years earlier that he and his brother had an extensive record collection at home as children by Judas Priest, Mötley Crüe, Saxon, Van Halen and had other rough work. When they were looking for someone to sing a hard rock song at Willy, Lotti was promptly called in.

The reactions to his version of Iron Maiden’s Run to the Hills caused a snowball effect that culminated in a concert at Graspop Metal Meeting. The performance was so unforgettable that it was recorded on record and was not just a one-off stunt.
