Cubans still stranded in Haiti fear for their lives – 2024-04-13 10:25:06

Cuban citizens who were stranded in Haiti at the end of February remain trapped in the country due to the violence that broke out in the territory and say they fear for their lives.

Through a video shared by journalist Mario J. Pentón, one of these Cuban women stated that everyone has the same concerns, which is why they insist on asking the Castro regime for help.

“We can be a sure target for them at any time,” said the woman, referring to the various armed gangs that confront the local government daily.

The woman, a resident of Bayamo, points out that gunshots are constantly heard in the distance, something that makes them very nervous.

“We are very afraid because we are not used to this, we constantly hear gunshots, we constantly have to go out into the streets to look for water and food, and our resources are already running out,” he added.

The complainant is just one of the more than 200 Cubans who were stranded after the suspension of flights to the Island, which began after some Bullets hit a plane heading to the Greater Antilles.

Since then, these Cubans have rented rooms waiting for the Cuban government to take them out of the country; however, more than a month has passed since they were trapped in the capital of Haiti.

Cubans claim to be under constant stress, since several of the nearby stores, which are still safe to go to, have already begun to be affected by the shortage of products.

“The few resources are becoming scarce and becoming more expensive,” they explained.

The woman begged for her video to be shared, as she hopes that some international organization will help them leave the Caribbean nation, since their lives were in danger there.

Another woman also shared stories of what they have experienced in Haiti in recent weeks, pointing out that they have gone to the regime on multiple occasions, as they are willing to leave Haiti even if it is by boat, however, the authorities have not helped them.

“There are nights when we don’t sleep because of the gunshots and three days ago the gunshots didn’t stop for two full nights and one day,” he said.

“If you don’t have a boat, even if it is old, ask for help from the International Red Cross, the UN, any international organization,” said the woman, addressing the Castro regime, which seems to have abandoned them.

At the end of March, the Cuban government claimed to have a plan to evacuate its citizens from Haiti, noting that it planned to carry out several humanitarian flights, however, this plan could not be executed at the moment because the country’s airport was still under the control of armed gangs.

In that sense, they limited themselves to saying that they would evacuate the Cubans trapped in Haiti when conditions permitted, without giving an estimated date.
