Ajax has promoted Kelvin de Lang to technical manager, reports Football International Saturday morning. De Lang started as head of scouting in Amsterdam in August, but will be important in all Ajax transfer matters next summer.
De Lang was already promoted when Sven Mislintat was dismissed. He was appointed as the technical point of contact. As a result, he was already important for Ajax in the last transfer window. For example, he played a major role in taking over Jordan Henderson and managed to loan Georges Mikautadze to FC Metz. He also completed contract negotiations with Jorrel Hato and brought Kian Fitz-Jim and Julian Rijkhoff back to the Johan Cruijff ArenA.

Where the search for a new trainer is not the responsibility of the technical manager, De Lang will mainly focus on contact with players. For example, Ajax hopes to soon extend the contract of Kristian Hlynsson and the club also wants to prevent Devyne Rensch from leaving the club on a free transfer in 2025. Furthermore, Ar’Jany Martha’s contract expires this summer and it is not yet clear whether Ajax wants to continue with him.
Ajax initially tried to hire the German Christopher Vivell as transfers director. These discussions were led by the now suspended general manager Alex Kroes. After the suspension, these discussions were stopped and the Amsterdam club management opted for De Lang as technical manager.
Aad de Mos appoints the ideal trainer for Ajax. “But that boy has one thing against him, unfortunately.”
